What do you do with all of your expired coupons? If you are like many coupon clippers you simply throw them away after they have expired. Did you know that there are organizations that accept expired coupons? Military families that are living overseas can use these coupons! These are wonderful services staffed by dedicated volunteers, and they frequently send packages to families stationed in Germany, Guam, Japan, Cuba, Italy, Turkey, England, and South Korea.

You can make their efforts easier by neatly clipping the coupons, ensuring that the expiration date is evident, and sending coupons that have just expired, as it takes time for the coupons to get where they need to go! To save on postage every coupon should be trimmed inside the dotted line, and take care not to cut off any printed numbers, words, or barcodes.

Please note that only overseas United States military commissaries allow the use of expired manufacturer’s coupons. Commissaries within the United States do not allow the use of expired coupons. Unfortunately, if the coupon has been expired for more than 6 months, it is useless even overseas. If possible just send coupons that have expired less than 2 months ago.

“Stamps for Children” is an organization that recycles used/canceled postage stamps. The group distributes donated stamps to children’s groups. The stamps are used as educational aids in history and geography, as well as to interest children in the hobby of stamp collecting. Used stamps are also great for craft projects! Save all of your undamaged canceled stamps from incoming mail as well as used commemorative stamps.
